Kota: Dr. Girish Mathur, a senior physician from Kota, has been elected as the Dean-Elect of the Indian College of Physicians (ICP). His election was uncontested.
The Indian College of Physicians is the academic branch of the Association of Physicians of India, the leading organization for physicians in the country. It conducts various educational and academic programs such as seminars, workshops, quiz competitions, and conferences for physicians and postgraduate MD students in medicine. The ICP also awards fellowships to distinguished and accomplished physicians in India.
Besides Dr. Girish Mathur, five senior physicians from Chennai, Delhi, Kolkata, Hyderabad, and Bhubaneswar were contenders for the Dean-Elect position. However, on the final day of nomination withdrawal, all candidates withdrew their nominations, paving the way for Dr. Mathur's unopposed election.
Dr. Mathur previously served as the National President of the Association of Physicians of India in 2023. Before him, another senior physician from Kota, Dr. K.K. Parikh, served as the Dean of the Indian College of Physicians in 2016. Apart from these two Kota-based physicians, no other physician from Rajasthan has ever held this prestigious position.
Dr. Mathur's election has brought immense joy to the physicians of Kota and the entire Rajasthan region, who have extended their congratulations and best wishes to him.
