Udaipur: On the occasion of International Women's Day 2025, the District Administration and the Women & Child Development Department, Udaipur, organized an event at Sukhadia Rangmanch, Municipal Corporation, to honor women and promote their education and empowerment. The event was graced by Rajya Sabha MP Chunnilal Garasia as the Chief Guest and chaired by District President Mamta Kunwar. Approximately 650 women attended the event, which also featured notable educationist Dr. Gayatri Tiwari as the special guest.
The event commenced with the slogan "Main Nahi Hum" (Not Me, But We), encouraging girls and women. District President Mamta Kunwar emphasized the importance of International Women’s Day, stating, "Proudly say, we are women." She also motivated the women and girls to work towards creating equal opportunities for all. Kunwar highlighted various government and non-government schemes aimed at advancing women in education and employment, stressing the importance of gender equality at workplaces and women's safety through established laws. Several initiatives to promote entrepreneurship and leadership for women were also discussed.
MP Chunnilal Garasia addressed the audience, recognizing the significant roles women play in various sectors such as science, technology, health, education, and politics. He urged everyone to take a pledge to protect women's rights, work towards eliminating gender discrimination, and build a society with equal opportunities. He particularly emphasized increasing the female literacy rate in tribal-dominated areas and the need for more effective implementation and promotion of government welfare schemes.
Professor Gayatri Tiwari shared her insights on women’s health and safety, while Nandlal Meghwal, ICDS Deputy Director, and Sanjay Joshi, Women’s Empowerment Deputy Director, provided information about various schemes related to women and girls.
The event concluded with the distribution of awards under the Pannadhay Security and Honor Scheme. Awards were presented in different categories, including the Institutional Category to Karma Bai Jat Organization, the Individual Category to Mrs. Vedvanti Nagda and Dr. Sneha Babel, and the Sahyogini Category to Mrs. Hemlata Trivedi, among others. Additionally, 26 Yashoda Awards were presented to recognize the contributions of mothers.
