Udaipur in Parliament: MP Dr. Mannalal Rawat Demands Central Anti-Conversion Law

Udaipur / New DelhiMember of Parliament Dr. Mannalal Rawat on Tuesday raised the issue of religious conversions in Parliament, calling it a "cultural genocide" and demanded the introduction of a strong central law to curb illegal and forced conversions across India.

Speaking under Rule 377 in the Lok Sabha, Dr. Rawat emphasized that a well-orchestrated conspiracy is spreading across various regions of the country in the form of illegal religious conversions, which, he warned, are threatening India’s national fabric and cultural identity. He stated that such actions are not only unconstitutional but also serve as a covert anti-national agenda, masked under secularism.

Dr. Rawat highlighted that although 12 Indian states currently have anti-conversion laws, they remain weak and ineffective. Furthermore, 16 states still lack any legal framework to prevent conversions. He called upon the central government to bring a nationwide law under the vision of "One Nation, One Law" to address this growing national threat in a unified and legally robust manner.

Key Highlights from Dr. Rawat's Address:

  • Religious conversions are being carried out as part of a deliberate and organized criminal network, often involving radical, evangelical, and global terror elements, endangering national security and unity.

  • Dr. Rawat stated that figures like Changur Baba are examples of how such conversion gangs trap Hindu girls and promote extremism by forming radical groups.

  • He emphasized that Changur Baba’s network had links with foreign countries, and that hundreds of Hindu girls had reportedly been converted under his influence, with clear elements of Love Jihad involved.

  • Tribal regions are also being targeted, where conversion gangs are reportedly using cash and incentives to lure indigenous Hindu communities. Despite arrests, these groups continue to operate due to political patronage.

Dr. Rawat’s Appeal:

Dr. Rawat urged the government to treat illegal religious conversion as a serious threat to national identity, public sentiment, and sovereignty, and to introduce a strict central law that can provide a comprehensive solution to this issue. He described this as a "collective outcry" of the Indian public.

He also warned about the dangerous dream of "Ghazwa-e-Hind" being nurtured by such gangs across the country under the garb of religious conversions.
