Papa Ko Jal Shraddhanjali Staged at MPUAT Induction

Udaipur – As part of the induction programme for newly admitted students at the College of Technology and Engineering, Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture and Technology, the thought-provoking play “Papa Ko Jal Shraddhanjali” written by the city’s Water Hero and senior medical practitioner engaged in the de-addiction campaign, Dr. P.C. Jain, was staged. The performance depicted how fathers, grandfathers, and forefathers once diligently saved water, conveying that conserving water is the truest tribute to them.

The programme commenced with a water-themed dance set to the song “Jal Hi Jeevan Hai, Jal Hi Amrit Hai” composed by Bhopal’s retired Commissioner M. Mohan Rao. Dr. P.C. Jain also conducted on-the-spot testing of the TDS levels of water samples brought by students, advising them on the ideal TDS level for healthy drinking water.

The concept of “Invisible Water”—the unseen consumption of water in manufacturing everyday items—was demonstrated. For example, 7,500 litres of water are used to produce a single pair of jeans. Similar facts were shared about saris, T-shirts, chocolates, and other products, leading students to pledge for water conservation.

In the subsequent session, the physical effects of substance abuse on male and female bodies were shown through a detailed presentation, and students took an oath to stay away from all forms of intoxication. The programme concluded with a group “Nasha Nritya” (anti-addiction dance).

First-year students Rudra Pratap Singh Sisodia, Sanjay Gurjar, Siddharth Singh Shekhawat, Devanshi Sharma, Chetna Chaudhary, Akshara Rathi, Surabhi Dadhich, and Moomal performed in the play. The event was coordinated by Dr. Vinod Yadav. All actors were presented mementos by Dr. P.C. Jain, while Dr. Vinod Meena expressed gratitude by presenting a memento to Dr. P.C. Jain.
