Udaipur, According to Hindu scriptures, the month of Sawan holds immense significance for devotees of Lord Shiva. To express their devotion, people observe fasts, perform special rituals, and participate in the revered Kanwar Yatra. Continuing this tradition, a grand Kanwar Yatra is being organized jointly by the Ratnagiri Vikas Samiti and the residents of Bhuwana on Monday, July 14, the first Monday of Sawan.
The 7-kilometer-long yatra will begin at 8:15 a.m. from Bawdi Wale Hanuman Mandir in Bhuwana and conclude at Shri Amarkh Mahadev Temple, Amberi. A total of 1100 Kanwariyas will collect sacred water in their kanwars and offer jalabhishek to Lord Shiva at the Amberi temple.
A poster for the Kanwar Yatra was unveiled today by Pacific Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) Chairman Rahul Agrawal, Executive Director Aman Agrawal, and all office bearers of the Ratnagiri Vikas Samiti.
On this auspicious occasion, Rahul Agrawal stated that the Kanwar Yatra has been a deeply rooted tradition since ancient times. It is widely believed that offering water to the Shivling during Sawan pleases Lord Shiva, who then fulfills the wishes of his devotees.
The yatra will feature floral showers along the route and attractive tableaux that will captivate devotees and onlookers alike.
Key members of the organizing committee including Prem Shankar Dangi, Lalit Vaishnav, Mohan Dangi, Shankar Dangi, Devilal Nagda, Devilal Dangi, and Narayan Dangi were present at the poster launch ceremony. Enthusiasm among devotees is high as preparations for the sacred yatra are underway with full fervor.
