Udaipur – The Pratap Gaurav Kendra ‘Rashtriya Teerth’ will celebrate the Shri Krishna Janmashtami Mahotsav with great enthusiasm from August 15 to 17. A Dahi Handi competition will be held on August 16 from 7 PM, where the winning team in the Matki Phod contest will be awarded a prize of ₹51,000.
According to Pratap Gaurav Kendra Director Anurag Saxena, the three-day festival, organised under the Veer Shiromani Maharana Pratap Samiti, Udaipur, will take place in the Bhaktidham premises of the centre and will feature a variety of cultural and religious programmes dedicated to the devotion of Lord Krishna.
Event convenor Shambhu Gameti informed that the celebrations will commence on August 15 at 7 PM with a Naav Manorath, followed by a Raaslila enactment and a Bhajan Sandhya. On August 16 at 7 AM, the Panchamrit Abhishek will be performed, where devotees will ceremonially bathe the idol of Lord Krishna, followed by the distribution of prasad.
Co-convenor Bhupesh Panchali stated that on the same day, from 1 PM to 5 PM, a Jhanki competition will be organised, where local schools and institutions will depict various episodes from Lord Krishna’s life through live tableaux. The Dahi Handi competition at 7 PM will showcase teams of youths recreating the playful act of Makhan Chori by Bal Krishna, with the winning team receiving ₹51,000.
Co-convenor V.K. Singh added that the final day of the festival, August 17, will feature a fancy dress competition from 2 PM onwards. Boys, girls, and their mothers can participate dressed as Lord Krishna, Radha, Balram, Yashoda, and other related characters.
