Udaipur, Rajasthan – Continuing its commitment to community service and heritage preservation, Rotary Club Drishti, under the leadership of its patron Dr. Sweety Chhabra, carried out an extensive cleaning drive of the historic stepwell located at Amark Ji Mahadev. Through dedicated efforts, the stepwell was not only cleaned and beautified but its water was also purified to make it fit for drinking.
With this, the club has now successfully cleaned seven stepwells across the city. Dr. Sweety Chhabra shared that the initiative is part of the club's Signature Project for the year, aimed at restoring traditional water bodies while promoting public awareness about cleanliness and heritage conservation.
“This project is not just about cleaning,” said Dr. Chhabra. “It’s a step towards reviving our ancient water conservation systems and preserving the architectural and cultural legacy of Udaipur. It also encourages the community to take pride in and responsibility for their environment.”
The project will continue throughout the year, with two more stepwells scheduled for cleaning on August 2. The club hopes to inspire other organizations and individuals to take similar initiatives that blend sustainability with cultural pride.
