GDPL  KOTA LAUNCHES SERVICES FOR PERSONS WITH CEREBRAL PALSY

 

Kota,  The Government Divisional Public Library, Kota has taken a significant step towards inclusivity by launching dedicated library services for persons with cerebral palsy. Under this initiative, the library will provide specialized research citation services and academic support, enabling scholars with special needs to pursue their research work more effectively.

The first member registered under this new category is Ms. Shivali Chopra, who is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in English. Her enrolment marks a milestone in the library’s mission to extend equal access to knowledge and academic resources for all sections of society.

Expressing her gratitude, Ms. Shivali Chopra said, “This initiative is a source of great encouragement for researchers like me. The research citation service offered by the library will not only help me in my Ph.D. work but also motivate many others with physical challenges to step forward in their academic journey. I feel proud to be the first registered member under this service.”

Divisional Library President, Dr. Deepak Kumar Shrivastava, emphasized that the initiative is in line with the library’s vision of creating an inclusive knowledge ecosystem. He stated, “Libraries are not just repositories of books; they are spaces of empowerment. By offering specialized services to persons with cerebral palsy, we aim to remove barriers in accessing research resources and ensure equitable opportunities for higher education and knowledge creation.”

The launch of this service positions the Government Divisional Public Library, Kota, as a pioneer in accessible public library services* in India. It reflects the growing commitment of public libraries to serve as community institutions that foster learning, inclusivity, and social equity.
