CM Bhajanlal Sharma to Spend Time with BSF Jawans Ahead of Independence Day

Following in the footsteps of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who almost every year visits soldiers guarding India’s borders on Independence Day and Republic Day to boost their morale, Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma will, ahead of this year’s Independence Day celebrations, visit the Kodhewala Border Post in the Khajuwala sector of Bikaner district, located in the heart of the Thar Desert along the India–Pakistan border. There, he will spend time with the Border Security Force (BSF) personnel and encourage them.

The BSF is responsible for safeguarding India’s western frontiers. Rajasthan not only contributes the highest number of soldiers to the Indian Armed Forces, but also leads in the number of martyrs who have laid down their lives while defending the nation. In this context, the Chief Minister’s visit, on the eve of India’s 79th Independence Day, is being seen as a commendable and inspiring initiative.

While the nation celebrates Independence Day under the tricolour with grandeur, the brave sentinels of the borders remain stationed in remote and challenging terrains, protecting the motherland. Under the scorching heat of sand dunes during the day and in freezing cold nights, patrolling on camels, in jeeps, or on foot, these jawans vigilantly guard against infiltration, and keep a close watch on illegal arms and drug smuggling.

The BSF was established in 1965, following the Indo–Pak war, to create a specialised and organised force for border security. In its early days, BSF personnel patrolled primarily along the Pakistan border using camels and jeeps. Today, they are equipped with modern weapons, drones, thermal imaging, smart fencing, and even have women contingents serving in difficult and high-risk postings. From the Tanot Mata Temple in Rajasthan to the snowy outposts of Kashmir, BSF personnel remain on duty in every season and under every condition.

Rajasthan shares a 1,048-kilometre-long border with Pakistan — the longest stretch along India’s western frontier. This is not just a geographical line but the first wall of India’s sovereignty. At every post, the watchful eyes of BSF personnel scan the horizon through binoculars, ensuring that no threat crosses the border.

By visiting the border and interacting with BSF jawans ahead of Independence Day, CM Bhajanlal Sharma will not only send out a powerful message of patriotism but will also fill the hearts of these soldiers with renewed enthusiasm, pride, and commitment.
