Rajasthan’s 79th Independence Day Marked in Jodhpur

 

Jodhpur,  The 79th Independence Day was celebrated at the state level with grandeur and patriotic fervour at Barkatullah Khan Stadium in Jodhpur. The event was addressed by Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, who stated that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India has become self-reliant, prosperous, and globally respected. It was noted that the country is advancing towards becoming the world’s third-largest economy, and a new chapter of self-reliance is being written.

The Chief Minister stated that the double-engine government is consistently working to make Rajasthan self-reliant, committed to the principles of development and good governance. Citizens were urged to actively contribute to national progress by adopting indigenous products with pride, inspired by the “Vocal for Local” initiative. The slogan “Jai Anusandhan” was proposed as an addition to “Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan, Jai Vigyan.”

It was highlighted that historic national initiatives such as Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Ayushman Bharat, Ujjwala Yojana, PM Awas Yojana, Jal Jeevan Mission, and PM Kisan Samman Nidhi are fulfilling the aspirations of the common people. Achievements in the defence sector, including the production of indigenous warships, aircraft, and advanced weapon systems under “Make in India,” were also outlined.

A strong commitment was expressed towards making the state water self-reliant through projects like the Ramjal Setu Link Project and Yamuna Water Agreement. The completion of the Navnera Barrage was noted, and plantation of over 15 crore saplings under Mission Hariyalo Rajasthan was reported.

Infrastructure development plans included the creation of a 53,000 km road network within five years, enhancement of rural connectivity, and progress in renewable energy with the Rajasthan Integrated Clean Energy Policy 2024 targeting 125 GW of renewable production by 2030.

The state’s exceptional performance in mineral block auctions, investment proposals worth over ₹35 lakh crore from the Rising Rajasthan Global Investment Summit, and targeted welfare schemes for underprivileged communities, youth, and women were detailed. Initiatives for women’s safety, including 500 Kalika Patrolling Units, three women battalions, and 65 anti-Romeo squads, were mentioned, along with successful crackdowns on cybercrime and organised crime.

Jodhpur was praised as a land of courage, culture, and heritage, also known for its culinary delights, handicrafts, and artistry. Following the flag hoisting, the Chief Minister inspected the parade and took the salute. A floral shower from an MI-17 helicopter over the national flag was witnessed. The parade involved contingents from the police, RAC, NCC, Scouts and Guides, Home Guards, and school groups.

Awards and citations were presented to distinguished officers and employees for their exceptional services. The programme featured captivating cultural performances by folk artists from Rajasthan, Odisha, West Bengal, and Gujarat, along with school students’ group dances on patriotic themes. Military displays, horse-riding shows, camel tattoo demonstrations, and weapon exhibitions were also held. The event concluded with the national anthem in the presence of ministers, MPs, MLAs, senior officials, and a large public gathering.
