Sri Ganganagar, With the onset of the festive season, passenger demand on trains witnesses a significant surge. To meet this growing requirement, Indian Railways has announced the operation of thousands of special train services. In particular, over 12,000 trains are being planned to cater to passengers travelling towards Bihar and other states.
As part of this plan, Indian Railways has already begun issuing notifications. Between 21 September and 30 November 2025, a total of 150 Puja Special trains will run, operating 2,024 additional trips. The decision aims to ensure seamless travel across the country during major festivals and to allow people to celebrate with their families.
Among the zones, South Central Railway will run the highest number with 48 trains covering 684 trips, primarily from Hyderabad, Secunderabad and Vijayawada. East Central Railway has notified 14 trains covering 588 trips to and from Bihar’s key stations including Patna, Gaya, Darbhanga and Muzaffarpur. Eastern Railway will operate 24 trains with 198 trips from Kolkata, Sealdah and Howrah.
From the west, Western Railway has scheduled 24 specials covering 204 trips from Mumbai, Surat and Vadodara. Southern Railway will operate 10 trains with 66 trips from Chennai, Coimbatore and Madurai. In addition, services will be run by East Coast Railway (Bhubaneswar, Puri, Sambalpur), South Eastern Railway (Ranchi, Tatanagar), North Central Railway (Prayagraj, Kanpur), South East Central Railway (Bilaspur, Raipur), and West Central Railway (Bhopal, Kota), linking metropolitan hubs with smaller cities and rural regions.

Passengers are advised to book their tickets in advance to secure confirmed seats and are requested to follow all safety and hygiene guidelines issued by the Ministry of Railways while travelling.
