Governor Emphasizes the Preservation of Ancient Agricultural Wisdom from Maharana Pratap's Era

Udaipur, Hon’ble Governor of Rajasthan and Chancellor Shri Hari Babu Kisanrao Bagde addressed a Progressive Farmer Interaction Program during his visit to Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture and Technology (MPUAT), Udaipur, held at the New Auditorium of Rajasthan College of Agriculture.

The Governor paid floral tribute to the statue of Veer Shiromani Maharana Pratap and visited the Maharana Pratap Research Chair, expressing appreciation for the ongoing impactful research on the life and legacy of Maharana Pratap.

Importance of Preserving Traditional Agricultural Texts

In his address, the Governor emphasized the need to preserve and promote ancient agricultural knowledge, citing the historic text ‘Vishva Vallabh’ authored by Pandit Chakrapani Mishra during Maharana Pratap’s era. He highlighted the importance of integrating traditional wisdom with modern technology.

Farmers as 'Annadata' of the Nation

Calling farmers the true ‘Annadata’ (Food Providers) of the nation, he acknowledged their vital contribution to the economy. He urged for increased agricultural productivity through innovation and modern technology in light of shrinking farmland and a growing population.

Inspirational Message to Students

Addressing students, he encouraged them to strive for excellence through hard work and intellect, sharing motivational stories of Rani Lakshmi Bai, Swami Vivekananda, and others. He emphasized that real education is that which enables one to face every challenge in life.

Vice-Chancellor’s Presentation and Book Release

Vice-Chancellor Dr. Ajit Kumar Karnataka shared the university’s achievements including a Scopus Index of 81, 58 patents, and 81 MoUs with prestigious institutions. The Governor also launched the coffee table book “Shri Ann” on this occasion.

Attendance and Conclusion

The event was attended by Dr. Uma Shankar Sharma (Former VC), Engineer Suhas Manohar, Dr. V.D. Mudgal, senior officials, deans, directors, scientists, students, and over 100 farmers from various Krishi Vigyan Kendras. The program was coordinated by Dr. Vishakha Bansal and Dr. Vikramaditya Dave, with Dr. Manoj Kumar Mehla delivering the vote of thanks.
