Udaipur, August 15, 2025. The 79th Independence Day was celebrated with enthusiasm at Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture and Technology (MPUAT), Udaipur. Vice Chancellor Dr. Ajeet Kumar Karnataka unfurled the National Flag at 9:15 a.m. in the Administrative Block premises.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Karnataka said that Independence Day is an occasion to salute the sacrifices, courage, and dreams of countless freedom fighters who secured this priceless freedom. Highlighting the significance of agriculture as a pillar of the Indian economy, he credited the tireless efforts of scientists and farmers, supportive government policies, and growing investments in the sector. He proudly mentioned that the university’s research excellence has reached an all-time high, with five new maize varieties developed in the past five years. He also praised the active participation of extension scientists in the “Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan” envisioned by the Union Agriculture Minister.
On this occasion, Dr. Karnataka announced the special “Pratap Gaurav Award.” Two distinguished faculty members, five non-teaching staff, and 17 students were felicitated with certificates of merit for their dedicated services and remarkable achievements. Additionally, 16 progressive farmers from Udaipur, Dungarpur, Banswara, Pratapgarh, Chittorgarh, Rajsamand, and Bhilwara districts were honoured for their innovations and significant contributions to agriculture. The award was also conferred upon Dr. C. M. Yadav, In-charge of KVK Bhilwara, and Mr. L. N. Salvi from the Administrative Office.
University Registrar Dr. B. L. Kumawat and Finance Controller Mrs. Darshana Gupta extended greetings to all on the auspicious occasion. The event was attended by deans, directors, officers, staff, progressive farmers, and students. In his message, Dr. Karnataka said Independence Day is not merely a celebration but also a moment of resolution—“Let us pledge to build a self-reliant, sustainable, inclusive, and developed India.”
The celebration concluded with a tree plantation drive by senior officials and university authorities.
