A delegation of the Bharatiya Kisan Sangh, District Udaipur, submitted a detailed memorandum to Shri C.R. Chaudhary, Chairman of the Rajasthan Kisan Aayog, raising serious concerns over irregularities and corruption in various government schemes meant for farmers.
The memorandum emphasized that India is an agrarian country where farmers, through their hard work, feed the nation. Despite numerous welfare schemes launched by the government, the benefits are not reaching the grassroots due to systemic corruption and administrative negligence.
The delegation pointed out widespread complaints from all tehsils of Udaipur regarding the free distribution of seeds and fertilizers under government schemes. Allegations of black marketing and collusion between officials and vendors have surfaced, depriving genuine beneficiaries of their entitlements.
They further alleged that substandard and counterfeit agricultural inputs are being sold in the open market. Farmers are not being issued purchase bills despite repeated requests, making it difficult for them to claim any form of redress.
The Sangh also raised concerns over the Agriculture Department’s failure to effectively monitor the quality of these inputs. Even after routine sampling, the Agriculture Minister had to personally conduct raids, exposing the involvement of departmental officials in the malpractices.
Issues related to the distribution of subsidized farm machinery were also discussed. The delegation claimed that the department’s apathy and irregularities have hindered timely and fair access to these machines.
Concerns were also raised regarding cooperative societies and banks. The farmers alleged discrepancies in loan disbursal procedures and demanded an impartial inquiry under the supervision of the Divisional Commissioner of Udaipur.
Additionally, the memorandum addressed the problem of inconsistent electricity supply. Farmers claimed that the promised 6-hour daily supply is disrupted every 30 minutes without explanation, affecting irrigation activities.
The recent installation of prepaid smart meters in rural areas has further added to their woes. Farmers are facing unexpected power cuts in the middle of irrigation due to balance exhaustion, leading to crop damage.
Finally, the delegation demanded that Bharatiya Kisan Sangh, Udaipur, be given representation in all committees formed by the district administration related to agriculture and farmer welfare to ensure fair participation in decision-making processes.
The memorandum concluded with an appeal to the Kisan Aayog to take immediate and strict action against corrupt officials and ensure effective implementation of government schemes for the benefit of genuine farmers.
