Udaipur: The air resonated with the sweet strains of the flute as Radha-Krishna Maharas was brought to life by 25 beautifully adorned pairs, performing in a spectacular event organized by the Udaipur District Vaishya Mahasamellan Women’s Wing. The performances, inspired by the divine leelas of Radha and Krishna, captured the essence of traditional Maharas through song, dance, and elaborate attire.
Pinky Mandavat, Executive President of the Women’s Wing, shared that the Maharas was conducted in three rounds at Mahavir Sadhana & Swadhyay Bhawan, Ambamata. The event also included a fun Hauji game for all female members.
According to President Kiran Vijayvargiya, the first round featured a glamorous ramp walk of Radha-Krishna pairs, judged by Kathak experts Chandrakala Chaudhary and Dr. Lakshmi Sharma. Participants showcased intricate adornments—mor mukut, bansuri, rose garlands, traditional attire, and jewelry—drawing enthusiastic chants of “Radhe-Radhe” from the audience.
In the next dance rounds, pairs performed to Radha-Krishna songs, vividly portraying scenes from Raslila, as well as playful enactments of Matki Phod. The program was meticulously coordinated and decorated by Sushila Jagetia, Suman Lundia, Shikha Vijayvargiya, Rekha Agrawal, and Shipra Gupta.
The event’s chief guests included Anjali Surana, Sudha Sanjay Agrawal, Lisa Khetan, Prem Moondra, and Gandhari Khandelwal, along with office bearers of the Women’s Wing. Winners of the Radha-Krishna Maharas were:
