Dialogue and Awareness Program Held on International Tiger Day

 

Udaipur: On the occasion of International Tiger Day, a dialogue and awareness program was organized on Tuesday at the Sajjangarh Biological Park, Udaipur, with the participation of students from various schools across the district.

Around 600 students from different schools took part in the program. The event began with Udaipur’s Deputy Conservator of Forests (Wildlife), Yadvendra Singh Chundawat, who highlighted the importance of International Tiger Day and the nationwide efforts being made for tiger conservation. He informed that International Tiger Day is observed every year on July 29 to raise awareness about tiger protection. This year’s theme — "Roar for the Future, Empower Communities, Protect Tigers" — emphasizes the significant role of community-based conservation.

The program was presided over by Chief Conservator of Forests (Wildlife), Udaipur, Seduram Yadav, who spoke about the importance of tigers in maintaining ecosystem balance and outlined the initiatives taken by the department at Sariska Tiger Reserve.

As special invitees, NTCA member Rahul Bhatnagar and retired Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests Raghubir Singh Shekhawat shared their experiences in tiger management and shed light on the historical background of tigers in the Mewar region.

With the support of WWF, wildlife expert Dr. Satish Sharma conducted a tiger-based quiz for the students. After the program, all students were taken on a guided Tiger Trail tour.

Also present at the event were Assistant Conservator of Forests Surbhi Sharma, WWF representative Arun Soni, Rahul Bhatnagar from Green People Society, retired Deputy Conservator of Forests Fateh Singh Rathore, along with Suhail Majboor, Pratap Singh Chundawat, Layak Ali, Prahlad Sharma, and Pratap Singh.
