#### NCERT Urged to Issue Immediate Notification for Removal of Historical Inaccuracies

Udaipur – The controversy over NCERT content describing Veer Shiromani Maharana Pratap as defeated in the Battle of Haldighati and depicting Mewar as part of the Maratha Empire has now prompted the Bharatiya Itihas Sankalan Samiti to declare its resolve to fight until the matter is resolved. This decision was taken during an emergency meeting of the committee’s Udaipur district unit held on Sunday at the Vishwa Samvad Kendra.

District General Secretary Chain Shankar Dashora informed that Mangalayatan University Vice-Chancellor Dr. Parmendra Kumar Dashora provided guidance during the meeting. He emphasised that history professors, teachers, historians, and history enthusiasts in Udaipur must alert the public that imparting incorrect and misleading historical information to students is an inexcusable offence. Maharana Pratap, he stated, is accepted as an ideal guide to freedom not only for Mewar but for the whole of India. His victory in the Battle of Haldighati symbolises an unwavering, continuous struggle for independence, inspiring society in the past and continuing to do so.

The meeting saw participation from Chittor Province Organising Secretary Ramesh Shukla, Provincial President Prof. Jeevan Singh Kharkwal, Provincial General Secretary Dr. Vivek Bhatnagar, Provincial Treasurer Gaurishankar Dave, Provincial Secretary Dr. Manish Shrimali, Metropolitan Secretary Deepak Sharma, and Dr. Subhash Bhargava, among others.

It was resolved to contact the Central Government and NCERT to demand the removal of all incorrect and misleading information regarding Maharana Pratap and Mewar from textbooks. The committee stressed that such inaccuracies misguide future generations and must be replaced with verified facts. All misconceptions, including those about the Battle of Haldighati and Rajasthan’s historical status, should be immediately corrected through an official notification and amendment orders applicable nationwide. The incorrect map showing Rajasthan’s princely states under foreign rule should be replaced with the historically accurate depiction of their independence.

A detailed factual report is being prepared for submission to NCERT and will also be sent to the central leadership of the Bharatiya Itihas Sankalan Yojana, aiming for nationwide corrections in NCERT textbooks.
