New Delhi : Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani has announced a target to increase the company’s total investment in India’s northeastern states to ₹75,000 crore. Currently, Reliance has invested approximately ₹30,000 crore in the region. This means an additional ₹45,000 crore will be invested over the next five years. Ambani was speaking at the ‘Rising Northeast Investors Summit’ held at Bharat Mandapam in Delhi.

He began his address by congratulating Prime Minister Modi and the nation on the success of Operation Sindoor, made possible by the unparalleled bravery of India’s armed forces.

Ambani stated that the proposed investment will generate more than 2.5 million direct and indirect employment opportunities. He also committed to setting up 350 biogas plants across the northeastern states. Speaking about Jio, he mentioned that Jio’s 5G network now covers nearly 90% of the region’s population. Currently, 5 million people are connected to Jio 5G in the Northeast, and this number is expected to double within this year.

To boost farmers’ income, Reliance Retail will promote direct procurement from them. Praising the Prime Minister, Ambani said, “Due to your efforts, the Northeast is no longer on the margins — it has emerged on India’s development map.”

Highlighting the contributions of Reliance Foundation in healthcare, Ambani shared that a 150-bed cancer hospital has been established in Manipur. In collaboration with Mizoram University, the foundation is also working on breast cancer care using genomic data. In Guwahati, the foundation has set up an advanced molecular diagnostics and research laboratory, equipped with one of the largest genome sequencing capabilities in India.

Furthermore, Reliance Foundation will partner with all eight northeastern states to establish Olympic training centres aimed at producing future Olympic medalists.
