7th Convocation Ceremony of Agricultural University Kota

Kota. Governor and Chancellor Shri Kalraj Mishra emphasized that the Agricultural University should not only formulate beneficial schemes for farmers but also establish itself as a center for the dissemination of modern knowledge and science. He urged the students to participate in realizing the vision of a developed India as they receive their degrees.

On Tuesday, the Governor addressed the graduates and postgraduates after awarding them gold medals and degrees at the 7th Convocation Ceremony of Agricultural University Kota. A total of 310 candidates received degrees, and 10 candidates were awarded gold medals, including 6 female and 4 male students.

Congratulating the female students for advancing in the field of agriculture, the Governor noted that their rapid progress and talent are promising signs for the country and society. He called upon agricultural universities to focus on increasing farmers' yields by considering experiments in agriculture from other countries alongside traditional farming. He also stressed the importance of using advanced technology in agriculture.

Mr. Mishra highlighted the need for continuous research and development in agricultural management to enhance employment-oriented skills. He pointed out that this would attract more youth to agriculture. He emphasized the importance of innovation in agricultural entrepreneurship and the creation of new employment opportunities through marketing, storage, and other sectors in agriculture. He encouraged modern approaches to research and development in agriculture, tailored to local contexts.

The Governor mentioned the growing importance of artificial intelligence and drone technology in agriculture, which are making traditional farming methods more efficient and effective. He also highlighted the potential for agri-tourism in the Kota division, which can boost innovation and sustainability in agriculture, increase farmers' income, and raise awareness among tourists about nature and agriculture.

Praising the "Chancellor-Student Dialogue" initiative at Agricultural University Kota, the Governor noted that such interactions boost students' confidence and motivate them to tackle contemporary challenges. He congratulated the university for approving five new varieties of chickpeas, lentils, and urad beans, developing 29 new technologies, and providing 14,807 quintals of high-quality seeds to farmers in 2023.

Convocation guest and Chancellor of Rani Lakshmi Bai Central University, Jhansi, Prof. Punjab Singh, expressed that the future is bright for youth conducting research and studies in agriculture, as the sector holds significant growth potential. The university's Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Abhay Kumar Vyas, presented the university's report.

During the ceremony, the Governor unveiled four new varieties of chickpeas and urad beans developed by the university. He also inaugurated five newly constructed units at the university, including the Common Incubation Center, Seed Promotion and Processing Unit (Khanpur), Air-conditioned Dehumidified Seed Warehouse, Seed Promotion and Processing Unit (Aklera), and seed warehouses. The Governor also inspected the exhibition of technologies and products developed by the university.

The ceremony began with the Governor reciting the Preamble and Fundamental Duties of the Constitution. Mr. Mishra congratulated all the degree and medal recipients and wished them a bright future.

Before the ceremony, Vice-Chancellor Dr. Abhay Kumar Vyas welcomed the Governor with a shawl. At the end of the program, Registrar Sunita Daga expressed gratitude to all the guests.

Gold medals were awarded to Shweta Chugh (B.Sc. Horticulture), Sanjay Saini (B.Sc. Forestry), Yuktesh Audichya (B.Sc. Agriculture), Vishwadeep Balyan (M.Sc. Horticulture Fruit Science), Sampatti Yadav (M.Sc. Agriculture Horticulture), Ashwini Mehta (M.Sc. Agriculture Genetics and Plant Breeding), Barkha Kumari Verma (M.Sc. Agriculture Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry), and Manraj Dhakad (M.Sc. Agriculture Plant Pathology). The Vice-Chancellor's Gold Medal was awarded to Shweta Chugh, and the Chancellor's Gold Medal was awarded to Ashwini Mehta.

The convocation ceremony was attended by MLA Ladpura Kalpana Devi, Vice-Chancellor of Vardhman Mahaveer Open University Kota, Prof. Kailash Sodani, Vice-Chancellor of Rajasthan Technical University Kota, Prof. S.K. Singh, Vice-Chancellor of Kota University, Prof. Neelima Singh, along with officials and employees of Agricultural University Kota.
