Historic Two-Day All India Speakers’ Conference Held at Delhi Assembly

Delhi, On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Vitthalbhai Patel’s tenure as the first elected Speaker of the Central Legislative Assembly, a two-day All India Speakers’ Conference is being organized at the Delhi Assembly on August 24–25. The event will be inaugurated by Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah, and concluded by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla.

The conference will showcase India’s parliamentary history, democratic traditions, and innovations implemented by Rajasthan and other state assemblies. A grand exhibition highlighting Patel’s parliamentary contributions and his role in the freedom struggle will feature rare records, photographs, and a special documentary. The exhibition voice-over is provided by Padma Bhushan and national awardee Anupam Kher.

A special highlight includes historical documents related to the daring act by Bhagat Singh and Batukeshwar Dutt who threw bombs in the Central Legislative Assembly on April 8, 1929, including Bhagat Singh’s original death certificate and warrant.

The two-day conference will host four key sessions:

Vitthalbhai Patel – Contribution to Constitution and Parliamentary Institutions (Inaugurated by former Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar)

Role of Pre-Independence Central Legislative Assembly Leaders in Freedom Struggle and Social Reforms (Addressed by Union Culture Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat)

AI and Transparency: Ensuring Accountability and Public Trust in Governance (Addressed by Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and others)

India – The Mother of Democracy (Addressed by Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairperson Harivansh Narayan Singh)

The conference aims to foster discussions on parliamentary history, legislative innovations, problem-solving in governance, and the use of modern technologies. Special dinners and cultural programs showcasing India’s diverse heritage have also been organized for attendees.
