The Indian government has appointed Hiralal Samariya as the Chief Information Commissioner of India. He is the first Dalit to hold this prestigious position. President Draupadi Murmu administered the oath during a simple ceremony. Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar and Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Samariya on his appointment.
Hiralal Samariya's elevation to the position of Chief Information Commissioner has brought great joy to his family and his village in the hilly town of Deeg in Rajasthan.
From the beginning, Samariya's family placed great emphasis on education, which enabled him to climb the ranks through hard work and dedication to reach this distinguished position. His family continues to support him, with his son, Piyush Samariya, serving as an IAS officer and his daughter, Monica, as a Commissioner in the Income Tax Department.
Hiralal Samariya pursued his early education in the hilly village of Deeg in Bharatpur district, Rajasthan. His father, Natthilal Samariya, was a Rajasthan Police Service officer and served in various locations throughout Rajasthan. Due to his father's postings, Hiralal Samariya had the opportunity to receive his education in different places.
Natthilal Samariya retired as an Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) and subsequently entered local politics. He contested and won the Panchayat Samiti member election from Nagargarh village, defeating his opponent by a significant margin. However, three years later, he passed away.
Hiralal Samariya attributes his achievements to the support and encouragement he received from his parents and family.
