Udaipur, With continuous rainfall in the catchment areas and overflow from Swaroopsagar, Udaysagar Lake reached its full capacity on Sunday. At 3:40 PM, the gates of the lake were officially opened by Udaipur Rural MLA Phool Singh Meena, who performed a traditional ritualistic puja before initiating the water release.
According to officials from the Water Resources Department, the lake gates were opened up to 3 inches, releasing 70.01 cusecs of water downstream. The event was attended by departmental officers and local public representatives.
Superintending Engineer Manoj Jain informed that the water level in the lake had reached approximately 22 feet. Earlier in the day, SE Mahesh Chaudhary had issued an advisory for downstream residents, urging them to exercise caution around flood-prone zones, low-lying crossings, and areas with strong currents.
Citizens have been advised to avoid venturing into water-logged or flowing areas as a safety measure amid ongoing rainfall.
