Bihar’s Lala Gurubaksh Das Turns Crisis into Opportunity

Lala Gurubaksh Das, an engineer by profession and a government employee in Bihar’s Building Construction Department, turned the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic into an opportunity to revive his passion for music. Even Padma Shri awardee and legendary singer Udit Narayan is among the admirers of his melodious voice.

As the world came to a standstill during the pandemic, Lala Gurubaksh Das found solace in rediscovering his childhood love for music. Known for captivating audiences during his school days and village gatherings, his musical journey had taken a backseat after securing a government job, limiting his singing to the confines of his bathroom.

During the lockdown, he discovered the StarMaker app, which became the platform for his artistic revival. Without any musical instruments or a live audience, the app offered him the chance to showcase his voice to a wider audience. His soulful singing quickly gained traction, and he began amassing a loyal following of listeners.

Lala Gurubaksh Das’s talent was further recognized when celebrated singer Udit Narayan liked his performances, significantly boosting his morale. He has also become a member of the Indian Singer and Musician Association and has received offers to sing in films.

Speaking about his musical journey, Lala Gurubaksh Das expressed his willingness to take up film projects if the right opportunity comes his way. For now, he balances his government service with his passion for music, with plans to devote himself entirely to music after retirement.

Through determination and creativity, Lala Gurubaksh Das turned a global crisis into a life-changing opportunity, inspiring many with his journey from a government engineer to an admired singer.
