Udaipur – The innovative surgical technique ‘Sharma Sling-Round Ligament Pulley Fixation’, developed by Dr. Rajrani Sharma, Head of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Pacific Medical College and Hospital (PMCH), Udaipur, has received international recognition for offering a safer and more effective solution for uterine prolapse in women.
This groundbreaking technique was recently published in a prestigious international medical journal, establishing its scientific credibility and global applicability.
A special felicitation ceremony was organized at PMCH to honor Dr. Sharma’s achievement. She was felicitated by Dr. B.P. Sharma, President of UNESCO MGIEP Asia Pacific, Dr. Anand Gupta, President of Indian Medical Association (IMA) Udaipur, Dr. S.K. Kaushik, Dr. M.M. Mangal, President of Pacific Medical University, and Dr. R.K. Singh.

Chief Guest Dr. B.P. Sharma praised Dr. Sharma’s technique as an exemplary blend of scientific innovation and social sensitivity, especially addressing critical women’s health issues.
IMA Udaipur President Dr. Anand Gupta highlighted that this achievement is a matter of pride for Udaipur and India, inspiring young doctors and medical students toward innovation in healthcare.
Dr. Rajrani Sharma explained that compared to traditional surgery, this technique is easier, safer, less time-consuming, and involves minimal blood loss and fewer complications. Most importantly, it preserves the uterus, thus maintaining the woman’s reproductive capacity. Another unique advantage is that natural vaginal delivery remains possible after surgery, unlike earlier methods that necessitated cesarean sections.
This innovative procedure has been granted both patent and copyright protection under India’s Intellectual Property Rights (IPR), affirming its originality and uniqueness.
So far, the Sharma Sling technique has been successfully implemented in numerous complex cases, delivering highly positive outcomes. This achievement not only advances women’s healthcare but also marks India’s rising stature in global surgical innovation.
