Udaipur, A goodwill visit by the "Navachar Mahila Prakoshth" (Innovation Women’s Cell) under the banner of Vigyan Samiti was organized to the internationally acclaimed village Piplantri in Rajsamand district. Known for its unique tradition of planting 111 trees upon the birth of every girl child, the village, once affected by drought, now boasts of lush greenery and flowing water streams.
Media Coordinator Prof. Vimal Sharma shared that the former Sarpanch of the village, Shyam Sunder Paliwal, was honored with the Padma Shri Award by the Government of India for his tireless efforts in this ecological transformation. A special tradition in Piplantri includes tying rakhis to trees during Raksha Bandhan, symbolizing their protection.
Inspired by the village’s success, all 50 participating women pledged to plant 11 trees each year on their birthdays and nurture them regularly.
The tour was led by Coordinator Dr. Pushpa Kothari, while President Sangeeta Bhanawat briefed the members about the village's initiatives. Active contributions to the arrangements were made by Manju Singhvi, Anu Nawedia, Asha Kothari, Asha Sisodia, Savita Kothari, Kavita Khimawat, Rekha Mehta, and Madhu Mehta, among others.
