Udaipur, Narayan Seva Sansthan, a dedicated institution serving the differently-abled, hosted an emotionally resonant three-day program titled “Apno Se Apni Baat”. The event became a confluence of emotions, struggles, and renewed hope as several stories of courage emerged from across the country.
Among them, the story of 21-year-old Salina Khatoon from Kushinagar, Uttar Pradesh, left many with tears in their eyes. While returning from college, Salina’s scarf got entangled in bushes near a railway track. In her attempt to free it, she was struck by a speeding train, leading to the loss of one arm and one leg. Her father Fakhr-e-Alam, overwhelmed with emotion, shared how he had sold their farmland and borrowed heavily from relatives for her treatment. Despite all efforts, the family remains burdened by a debt of ₹4 lakh.
Moved by their ordeal, Prashant Agarwal, President of Narayan Seva Sansthan, immediately handed over a cheque of ₹4 lakh to Fakhr-e-Alam, freeing the family from their crushing debt.
Salina, now equipped with advanced modular artificial limbs fitted at the Sansthan, confidently demonstrated walking and using her hands. She shared her dream of completing her education and lifting her family out of poverty.
Other heartfelt stories were also shared during the event:
Rekha Sahdev from Dewas, Madhya Pradesh, narrated the journey of her son Anshu, who was unable to stand or use one hand since birth. Despite numerous treatments and costly injections, there was no progress. However, after surgery at the Sansthan, Anshu is now able to sit, stand, and even walk independently.
Balveer Jat from Chittorgarh underwent two successful surgeries to correct severely twisted feet, while
Kavya Patidar, a Class 4 student from Dungarpur, who earlier struggled to walk due to a heel deformity, now walks comfortably post-surgery.
President Prashant Agarwal stated, “Life often brings unexpected challenges, but self-belief and determination pave the path to success. Despair can destroy a person, but those who rise above adversity become true inspirations for society.”
The event reinforced Narayan Seva Sansthan’s unwavering commitment to empowering the differently-abled and restoring dignity and confidence in their lives.
