Bridgetown, Barbados/New Delhi — The 68th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference (CPC) was inaugurated in Bridgetown, the capital of Barbados, bringing together speakers and legislative leaders from across the world. The Indian delegation was led by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, with participation from Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh Narayan and Rajasthan Legislative Assembly Speaker Vasudev Devnani, along with other presiding officers from various Indian state legislatures.
Held under the theme “Commonwealth: A Global Partner”, the conference focuses on dialogue, collaboration, and shared democratic values, aiming to promote inclusive and sustainable development worldwide.
On this occasion, Rajasthan Assembly Speaker Vasudev Devnani described the experience of participating alongside global parliamentary leaders as truly inspiring. He emphasized that strengthening democratic values will pave the way for a more just and inclusive world.
Speaker Devnani further noted that India, as the world’s largest democracy, demonstrates its parliamentary traditions and commitment to democracy on the global stage through the active presence of its delegation at the conference.
