Awakening the Vision of Service and Compassion is Essential: A.P. Singh

New Delhi – Lions Club New Delhi Alaknanda, during its Installation and Janmashtami Celebration held at Sandal Suites, Noida, honoured prominent non-governmental organization Pragyaata Foundation with the Chiranjilal Dhanuka Memorial Social Service Award 2025.

This annual award from the club includes a cheque of ₹1,00,000, a shawl, and a shield. The award was presented to Pragyaata Foundation by Shri Mahendra Kumar Dhanuka, District Governor Lion Omkar Singh Renu, Past District Governor Lion N.K. Gupta, First Vice District Governor Lion Sandeep Kumar, Second Vice District Governor Lion Pratibha Agarwal, PRO Shri K.K. Sachdeva, Club President Lion Abhishek Jain, Past President Bhimsain Goyal, Award Selection Committee Chair Lion Rajesh Gupta, and Lion Anand Maheshwari. The event commenced with an inspiring inaugural address by Lion K.M. Goyal.

A special highlight of the programme was the motivating video message from Lions Clubs International President Lion A.P. Singh, which filled the atmosphere with energy. All members stood in respect to welcome this message. Lion A.P. Singh stated that Lionism is not merely a platform for leisure and entertainment but an endeavour to view life closely, to initiate projects of service and philanthropy, and to awaken a vision of compassion. He described Lions Club New Delhi Alaknanda as a distinguished and active club.

Under the dynamic leadership of President Lion CA Abhishek Jain, the event beautifully blended the spirit of service with the joy of celebration. In his address, President Jain delivered a powerful message on the true essence of Lionism, reminding members of “Why we are Lions.” The newly installed team pledged to advance impactful community service in line with the global objectives of Lions Clubs International. The installation ceremony was conducted with great finesse by PDG Lion Nargis Gupta.

Chief Guest District Governor Omkar Singh Renu extended his best wishes to the newly appointed President Lion Abhishek Jain and his team, stating that Lionism is the world’s largest service organization.

The ceremony also witnessed the induction of 10 new members and the presentation of the prestigious CA C.P. Agarwal Memorial Scholarship Award to four aspiring Chartered Accountants, presented by Chairperson Lion N.K. Bansal and Co-Chairperson Lion Komal Agarwal. Lions who had completed 25 glorious years of service were honoured, and Lion Lalit Narang was recognized as “Lion of the Month.”

Reaffirming its proud motto We Serve, the club marked the beginning of a new chapter in social service. The event was successfully organized under the guidance of Installation Chairperson Lion O.P. Baheti and smoothly compered by Master of Ceremonies Lion Adeep Veer Jain. The Leo members also played an active and commendable role, infusing the programme with fresh energy.

The Janmashtami celebrations—which included devotional music, cultural performances, and captivating decorations—were led by Chairperson Lion Sunil Agarwal and Co-Chairperson Lion Rajesh Gupta, adding a divine charm to the occasion. Past District Governor Lion N.K. Gupta also shared his thoughts on Lionism. The graceful presence of Past District Governors and the enthusiastic participation of all club members made the event truly memorable.

Lion Secretary Ravi Agarwal and Lion Treasurer Chinmay Bansal played key roles in the success of the programme. Leo Rahini Jain, Leo Shruti Garg, and Leo Arnav Jain were respectively elected as President, Secretary, and Treasurer of the Alaknanda Leo Club. The ceremony commenced with the lighting of the lamp and a Ganesh Vandana.
