Udaipur, On the eve of World Sight Day, Alakh Nayan Mandir Eye Institute, in association with Vision 2020: The Right to Sight India, organized a grand and inspiring event titled “Udaan: Night of Hope and Vision” at The Occasion Banquet Hall, Shobhagpura. The event celebrated commitment and excellence in the field of eye health and vision care.
During the ceremony, distinguished individuals and organizations contributing significantly to the cause of vision and eye health were honoured as Vision Champions. The highlight of the evening was the presentation of the Lifetime Achievement Award to Padma Shri Dr. Budhendra Kumar Jain, Director and Trustee of Sadguru Netra Chikitsalaya, Chitrakoot, for his lifelong dedication and service in the field of ophthalmology.
The event was graced by eminent dignitaries including Smt. Pragya Kevalramani (Divisional Commissioner, Udaipur), Shri Rajendra Bhatt (Retd. Commissioner), Dr. Promila Gupta (Principal Consultant, NPCB & VI), Dr. Praveen Vashisth (Professor & Head, Community Ophthalmology, RP Centre, New Delhi), Dr. Rajesh Saini (President, Vision 2020), Kuldeep Singh (Asia Regional Director, Seva Foundation), Subeesh Kuyyadil (Head, Centre for Community Ophthalmology, Shri Sadguru Seva Trust), and Sanjay Singhal (Founder, Secure Meters).
Speakers collectively emphasized the importance of preventing blindness and promoting eye donation to build a visually healthy society.
From Alakh Nayan Mandir, Mrs. Bal Kunwar (Founder Trustee), Dr. L. S. Jhala (Medical Director), Dr. Laxmi Jhala (Managing Trustee), and Mrs. Meenakshi Choondawat (Executive Trustee) were present on the occasion.
The event also marked the felicitation of Vision Champions from Alakh Nayan Mandir who have made remarkable contributions to community eye care. “Udaan” symbolized hope, service, and a collective vision for a brighter future free from preventable blindness.
Walk for Vision on Sunday:
As part of the World Sight Day celebrations, Alakh Nayan Mandir will organize a “Walk for Vision” on Sunday at 6:15 a.m.. The walk will begin from Fatehsagar Dewali Gate, proceed to Moti Magri, and return to Dewali Gate, spreading the message of eye health and awareness.
