Breastfeeding Week Observed at Geetanjali Medical College & Hospital, Udaipur

Udaipur – Geetanjali Medical College & Hospital (GMCH), Udaipur, is actively observing World Breastfeeding Week from August 1st to 7th, 2025, under the joint aegis of the Department of Community Medicine and the Department of Pediatrics. A series of awareness and educational activities are being conducted throughout the week.

As part of the observance, a guest lecture on "Human Milk Banking" was organized today. The lecture was delivered by Dr. Anuradha Sanadhya, Professor, Department of Pediatrics, RNT Medical College, Udaipur. She elaborated on the importance, collection, donation, and benefits of human milk banking, highlighting its role in neonatal care and community health.

The session was attended by:

  • Dr. Sangeeta Gupta, Dean, GMCH

  • Dr. Manjinder Kaur, Additional Principal

  • Dr. Mukul Dixit, Head, Department of Community Medicine

  • Dr. Sanjay Mandot, Head, Department of Pediatrics

  • Along with faculty members, interns, and students of the institution

On this occasion, Dr. Sangeeta Gupta emphasized that breastfeeding is vital for the holistic physical and mental development of infants, and human milk banking plays a critical role in supporting infants who cannot receive direct breastfeeding.

The event was coordinated by the Department of Community Medicine, and several more awareness programs are scheduled for the coming days to promote breastfeeding education and neonatal health.
