Mewar Tribal Leaders Deny Allegations of Neglect at Congress Divisional Meet

Udaipur, Following certain misleading statements made during the Save the Constitution Rally and the divisional-level Congress workers’ conference—claiming neglect and groupism towards the tribal community of Mewar-Wagad—local tribal leaders have issued video statements refuting the accusations.

Hiralal Darangi, Vice President of the Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee, former MLA from Jhadol, and Congress candidate from the same constituency, strongly rejected these claims. In his video message, he emphasized that the Congress party has always given adequate representation to the Mewar-Wagad tribal region. “Our leaders have twice served on the party’s highest decision-making body, the Congress Working Committee (CWC), which is a matter of great pride. Even at the state level, tribal representatives from Mewar have held significant positions and ministerial roles whenever the Congress was in power in Rajasthan. I myself serve as Vice President of the state committee,” he stated. Darangi added that former PCC Chief Dr. C.P. Joshi explicitly highlighted the decisive role of tribal leadership within Congress during his speech at the conference, leaving no room for allegations of groupism or neglect.

Tarachand Meena, former Lok Sabha candidate from Udaipur and the official coordinator of the divisional conference, questioned the basis of the accusations. “If I was appointed the coordinator of such a major event by the PCC, how can one claim tribal neglect?” he asked in his video message. He affirmed that tribal leaders were respectfully seated on the stage along with other senior Congress leaders. “The PCC President Govind Singh Dotasra praised the contribution of tribal leaders to the Congress in his address. Senior leaders like Rajasthan in-charge Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, Dr. C.P. Joshi, and Leader of Opposition Tikaram Jully also spoke about the vital role of the tribal community in strengthening the party in Mewar-Wagad,” Meena added.

Rishabhdev Block Congress President Roop Lal Meena, in his statement, expressed gratitude for being given the opportunity to speak on such a large platform for the first time. “If I was honored with a chance to speak, where is the neglect?” he said. He labelled the claims of groupism and neglect as mere rumors aimed at spreading confusion.

The coordinated response from these tribal leaders underscores their strong objection to what they described as baseless and divisive narratives, reiterating that the Congress party remains committed to inclusive representation and tribal empowerment in the Mewar-Wagad region.
