#### From Satyagraha to ‘Jai Jawan–Jai Kisan’: A Journey of Indian Thought

A grand seminar was organized at the State Public Mandal Library, Kota, to commemorate the birth anniversaries of Mahatma Gandhi and former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri. The theme of the seminar was “From Satyagraha to ‘Jai Jawan–Jai Kisan’: A Journey of Indian Thought.” The program was presided over by Nirmal Kumar Jain (Retired Accounts Officer). The Chief Guest was Parmanand Goyal (Revenue Advisor, Kota Development Authority), while distinguished Nigerian library professionals Isika Chikka and Husaini Musa attended as special guests. The event was conducted by Ramnivas Dhakad (Consultant), with program management by Rohit Nama and Ajay Saxena.

The seminar also featured a discussion on Goyal’s recently launched book, “Vicharon Ki Udaan: Jeevan Aapka, Nazariya Aapka aur Drishtikon Bhi Aapka.” In the inaugural session, Dr. Deepak Kumar Srivastava, Divisional Library Head, emphasized: “A library is not just a home for books, but a living platform for ideas. Gandhi and Shastri’s philosophies teach us morality, labor, and self-reliance—lessons that must reach the new generation.”

Parmanand Goyal highlighted: “Ideas are the greatest power in life, capable of changing circumstances and direction. My goal is not to preach but to invite readers to join the journey of ideas. Today’s theme, ‘From Satyagraha to Jai Jawan–Jai Kisan,’ teaches that from Gandhi’s truth and nonviolence to Shastri’s simplicity and self-reliance, the true strength of India lies in the power of ideas.”

Nirmal Kumar Jain remarked: “Gandhi and Shastri are symbols of ideal leadership and ethical values. Drawing inspiration from their simplicity, honesty, dedication, and hard work, we can guide society in the right direction. It is essential to instill these values in our lives and work culture to mentor the coming generations.”

Isika Chikka (Nigeria) said: “Gandhi’s truth and Shastri’s ‘Jai Jawan–Jai Kisan’ are guiding principles not just for India but for the world. Libraries provide a powerful platform to keep these ideas alive.”
Husaini Musa (Nigeria) added: “I am deeply inspired by India’s great tradition. Gandhi’s nonviolence and Shastri’s respect for farmers and soldiers remain relevant globally today.”

The seminar witnessed a large turnout of students, library users, senior citizens, teachers, and young researchers. Senior teacher Sudhir Mehra, representing the readers, called the theme “highly inspiring, as such events connect us not only to history but also guide our present and future.” Several participants appreciated the library’s efforts to introduce the new generation to the power of ideas.

Advocate Narendra Sharma noted: “We read about Gandhi and Shastri in books, but such seminars allow us to understand their philosophies deeply.” Student Jeetu Meena said: “For today’s youth, Gandhi’s truth and Shastri’s ‘Jai Jawan–Jai Kisan’ can serve as guiding principles. Libraries play a crucial role in this direction.”
Madhusudhan Chaudhary, Librarian at Geetanjali Medical College, Jaipur, added: “We lived these ideals in our childhood. Seeing them reach the new generation through libraries gives a sense of satisfaction that the tradition is alive.”

The seminar successfully celebrated the legacy of Gandhi and Shastri, highlighting their relevance for modern India and inspiring active engagement with their enduring philosophies.
