Jaipur – Dr. Kulwant Gaur, Coordinator of the BBJ Chapter of the Eye Bank Society of Rajasthan (EBSR), was honoured for his exceptional contribution to increasing eye donations and achieving a remarkable 85% cornea transplantation success rate in rural regions of the Hadoti division. The felicitation took place during the Vision Workshop organized by the Eye Bank Society of Rajasthan at Bliss Hotel, Raja Park, Jaipur. The award was presented by EBSR Secretary and former IAS officer Mr. L.P. Kothari.
For the past 14 years, Shine India Foundation has been consistently working in the Hadoti region to promote awareness about eye, organ, and body donation. The foundation has reached not only the city of Kota but also surrounding areas within a 200 km radius, educating the general public on these noble causes.
Shine India has always prioritized cornea quality over quantity. In cases where the cornea collected from distant areas did not meet quality standards, the foundation chose not to proceed with the collection. As a result of this rigorous quality-focused approach, Shine India achieved the highest number of eye donations from rural districts like Bundi, Baran, and Jhalawar over the past three months, along with the state's top quarterly transplant success rate of 85%.
This recognition reaffirms Shine India Foundation’s commitment to ethical, high-quality eye donation practices and spreading awareness in underserved areas.
