IIT Delhi Students Awestruck by Mewar’s Scientific Legacy

Udaipur,  Students of AINA (An Initiative for National Advancement), a social awareness group from the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, visited the Pratap Gaurav Kendra, a national pilgrimage center located in Udaipur, for an educational and cultural tour on Friday. The students not only engaged with the valorous legacy of Mewar but also participated actively in a workshop covering diverse subjects such as history, archaeology, science, and environmental conservation.

The workshop offered deep insights into the historical, scientific, and cultural dimensions of Mewar. Dr. Jeevan Singh Kharkwal, Director of Rajasthan Vidyapeeth’s Literature Institute, shed light on ancient Mewari technologies, mining practices, and metallurgy. Dr. Vivek Bhatnagar, Superintendent of the Pratap Gaurav Research Centre, highlighted Mewar’s traditional water conservation methods and their scientific relevance. Dr. Anil Mehta, Principal of Vidya Bhawan Polytechnic College, spoke about the harmony between historical and contemporary water distribution systems.

Director of Pratap Gaurav Kendra, Anurag Saxena, narrated the tale of Maharana Pratap’s bravery, the Battle of Haldighati, and the continued development of Mewar over the past 450 years. He also mentioned that the 450th anniversary of the Battle of Haldighati is being commemorated through various events at the Kendra.

Three faculty members—Prof. Nomesh Boliya, Ankit Singhal, and Tarun—accompanied the student group. The students of AINA expressed that Mewar is not just a land of valor but also a treasure trove of science, culture, environment, and technology. They were surprised that despite such a rich heritage, Mewar remains under-publicized. They resolved to undertake further research and share this knowledge across the country.
