One-Day Space Exhibition Organised at Sangam University on National Space Day 2025

Bhilwara, Rajasthan – In commemoration of the successful landing of Chandrayaan-3’s lander on the Moon’s southern pole in August 2023, India celebrates National Space Day every year on 23rd August. The theme for National Space Day 2025 is “From Aryabhata to Gaganyaan: From Ancient Knowledge to Infinite Possibilities.”


In this context, on 12th August 2025, Sangam University, Bhilwara, hosted a one-day space exhibition along with a series of competitions. The event was jointly organised by the Space Applications Centre (SAC), Ahmedabad; the Regional Remote Sensing Centre–West (RRSC-West), NRSC, Jodhpur; and Sangam University, Bhilwara.

The inaugural ceremony was graced by Prof. (Dr.) Karunesh Saxena, Vice-Chancellor, Sangam University; Prof. (Dr.) Manas Ranjan Panigrahi, Pro Vice-Chancellor; Prof. (Dr.) Alok Kumar, Registrar; Dr. Lokesh Tripathi, Head, Department of Geoinformatics; Dr. Rakesh Paliwal, Head (Applications), RRSC-West, ISRO; and Mr. Gaurav Bapna, Scientist and Programme Manager, SAC-ISRO. The event commenced with a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony, followed by introductory remarks from Dr. Lokesh Tripathi and Dr. Rakesh Paliwal.

The Chief Guest, Prof. (Dr.) Karunesh Saxena, addressed the gathering, highlighting India’s achievements and ambitions in the field of space research. A quiz competition for students was subsequently organised, testing their knowledge of space science and exploration.

A popular science lecture titled “ISRO’s Programmes: An Overview of Achievements” was delivered by Mr. Gaurav Bapna, engaging the audience with insights into India’s milestones in space technology.

The closing session featured an award ceremony, where winners of the competitions were felicitated, followed by a formal vote of thanks presented by Mr. Ashish Kumar Jain, Scientist, RRSC-West.

Post-event, students visited the specially curated ISRO Space Exhibition, which showcased the diverse dimensions of space science and ISRO’s achievements through informative posters and scientific models, presented in an engaging and interactive manner.
