One-Day Workshop on Pediatric Surgical Excellence Held at PMCH

Udaipur, A heartfelt tribute to the unsung heroes of pediatric healthcare unfolded at the Pacific Medical College and Hospital (PMCH), as the Department of Pediatric Surgery hosted a one-day workshop titled "Tribute to Pediatric Surgery Excellence." The event was a confluence of surgical brilliance, compassionate service, and technological advancement — all aimed at improving the lives of society's most delicate and precious members: children.

The workshop was inaugurated with the traditional lamp-lighting ceremony by Dr. M.M. Mangal, President of Pacific Medical University; Dr. U.S. Parihar, Principal of PMCH; Dr. Sunita Maheshwari, Medical Superintendent; Dr. H.P. Gupta, Head of Surgery; Dr. Rajrani Sharma, Head of Obstetrics & Gynecology; Dr. Praveen Jhanwar, Chairperson of the Workshop; and Dr. Arpit Oberoi, Secretary of the Workshop.

Chairman of PMCH, Mr. Rahul Agrawal, and Executive Director Mr. Aman Agrawal, praised the evolving advancements in pediatric surgery and commended the commitment of surgeons who dedicate themselves to this noble field.

In his opening address, Dr. M.M. Mangal emphasized, “Pediatric surgery is not just a medical discipline — it is a mission of compassion. It holds the power to transform the lives of the most vulnerable — our newborns and children — offering them a chance at a healthy and fulfilling life.”

Dr. Praveen Jhanwar welcomed the guests and underlined the deeper essence of the field, saying, “Pediatric surgery is not merely about skillful hands, but about becoming a beacon of hope for hundreds of children and their families. Through this workshop, we aim to strengthen inter-departmental collaboration for a more holistic and integrated approach to care.”

Adding an emotional layer to the discussion, Dr. Arpit Oberoi noted, “Such gatherings are not just intellectually enriching, but emotionally connecting as well. They remind us of our shared humanity and the incredible resilience of children.”

Running from 9 AM to 4 PM, the workshop featured engaging sessions on neonatal surgery, pediatric anesthesia challenges, the critical role of radiology, pathology-diagnosis integration, collaborative support from physiotherapy, and the often-overlooked importance of mental health in pediatric surgery.

The day was filled with interactive sessions, case study presentations, riddles, quizzes, and an open discussion forum — creating a vibrant atmosphere for knowledge exchange and inspiration.

The event beautifully blended clinical precision with emotional resonance, leaving participants not only better informed, but more deeply connected to the mission of pediatric healing.
