Work in Tribal-Dominated Remote Areas by Viewing Challenges as Opportunities for Action: District Collector

Udaipur. District Collector Namit Mehta emphasized that the Jhadol-Falsia region is a remote, tribal-majority area in Udaipur district. While this region faces numerous challenges, officials should view these challenges and shortages as abundant opportunities to work. The state government is committed to expanding facilities in tribal areas, and efforts are being made at the administrative level to resolve the issues.

The District Collector was addressing a meeting of block-level officials in the remote, tribal-majority areas of Jhadol and Falsia in Udaipur district on Wednesday. He stated that officials must first rid themselves of the mentality that this is a backward area. They should work with positive energy and ensure that the benefits of central and state government schemes reach every eligible individual, so they can also be brought into the mainstream.

The District Collector took detailed feedback from each department regarding the progress of schemes, development works, and the Chief Minister’s budget announcements. He also inquired about basic facilities in the region, such as healthcare, drinking water, electricity, and education. He instructed Sub-Divisional Officer Kapil Kothari to conduct weekly departmental review meetings, review flagship schemes, ensure timely resolution of pending cases on the contact portal, and inspect government departments, hostels, hospitals, educational institutions, etc., on a regular basis. He also reviewed the PM Awas survey, farmer registration campaign, crop inspection, and other activities, providing necessary directions.

Present at the meeting were Falsia Tehsildar Rameshchandra Wadhera, Jhadol Naib Tehsildar Suresh Samar, Jhadol Development Officer Jitendra Singh Rajawat, Assistant Forest Conservator Ghanshyam Kumawat, Police Deputy Superintendent Netrpal Singh, and other block-level officials.

**Survey of Handpumps**
During the meeting in Jhadol, the District Collector inquired about the status of drinking water supply in the area. The Assistant Engineer of PHED informed that some villages receive water from the Mansi Wakal project, while others rely on handpumps. He mentioned that the Jal Jeevan Mission is covering almost all villages, and the work is in progress. In response, the District Collector instructed that a survey of all handpumps in the region be conducted within 24 hours, and non-functional handpumps should be repaired within the next 72 hours, with a report to be submitted.

**Ensuring Pensions for Eligible Individuals**
The District Collector also reviewed the progress of pension and maintenance verification. Upon finding over 20% pending cases in the pension verification process, he directed the Sub-Divisional Officer and Development Officer to ensure timely completion. He emphasized that, in tribal-dominated areas, many people lack proper information, and resources are limited. It is unacceptable for the pension of any eligible person to be stopped due to verification delays. He instructed officials to monitor the process themselves and ensure the verification is completed promptly.
