New Delhi, As the city prepared to welcome the lush greenery of Sawan, the vibrant spirit of Rajasthan came alive at the historic Bikaner House near India Gate with the grand opening of the Teej Utsav 2025. Rajasthan's Chief Secretary and Chief Resident Commissioner Sudhansh Pant formally inaugurated the eight-day celebration on Wednesday, held on the eve of Hariyali Amavasya. The festival will continue till July 30, showcasing handcrafted products by RAJEEVIKA and RUDA, along with an extensive food festival.
In his address, Chief Secretary Pant highlighted that the festival offers Non-Resident Rajasthanis and Delhiites an opportunity to experience the state’s rich cultural tapestry—featuring handicrafts, folk music, traditional dance, culinary delights, and more.
He further mentioned the launch of a special e-commerce platform, the "Rajsakhi App/Portal", enabling local artisans to showcase and sell their handmade goods globally. He praised the efforts of RAJEEVIKA and RUDA in promoting Rajasthani crafts through collaboration with Self Help Groups.
Resident Commissioner Jogaram emphasized that Teej Utsav is a celebration of Rajasthan’s vibrant cultural heritage and traditions, offering a unique stage for artisans to display their exceptional talents.
Neha Giri, State Mission Director of RAJEEVIKA, noted that the fair is not just an exhibition but a celebration of women artisans’ skills and creativity, providing them with a larger platform to promote their livelihood.
Additional Resident Commissioner Anju Omprakash shared details of daily events scheduled from 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM till July 30. Highlights include:
July 24: Mehndi ramp walk, Rajasthani dance and singing competitions
July 28: Lemon spoon race, tug-of-war
July 29: Kho-Kho and turban tying contests
Ruma Devi Ties Rakhi to Chief Secretary
Renowned fashion designer Ruma Devi tied a rakhi to Chief Secretary Sudhansh Pant and extended early wishes for Teej and Raksha Bandhan.
Cultural Evenings by Rajasthan Tourism
A mesmerizing cultural evening was organized by the Rajasthan Tourism Department, where folk artists from various regions of the state enthralled the audience with performances including Mashak Vadya, Khartal Vadya, Bhavai, Mayur Nritya, Phoolon ki Holi, Chari, Ghoomar, and Bhapang Vadya.
Assistant Director Chhatrapal Yadav announced that additional cultural evenings will be held on July 27 and 28.
