Support to Modi Government Essential Against Trump’s Pressure Tactics: Sharad Pawar

Nagpur, Nationalist Congress Party (Sharad Chandra Pawar) chief Sharad Pawar has stated that in the interest of the nation, it is essential to support the Modi government against the “pressure tactics” being employed by former US President Donald Trump. Citing the imposition of 50% tariffs on Indian goods as an example of such tactics, Mr. Pawar said the people of India must stand with the government to protect national interests.

Addressing a press conference in Nagpur, the former Union Minister refrained from speculating on whether the foreign policy of the Modi government had failed. He remarked that Trump’s working style had been witnessed during his previous tenure as US President, observing that “no one has control over him” and that he often speaks impulsively.

Mr. Pawar further cautioned the Prime Minister against ignoring growing signs of distance between India and its neighbouring countries. He pointed out that while Pakistan remains opposed to India, nations such as Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and the Maldives are also not content with New Delhi at present.

Reiterating his concern, the NCP (SP) chief said that India cannot overlook its approach towards neighbouring countries and that Prime Minister Narendra Modi must focus on improving bilateral relations to bridge the widening gaps.
