Dr. Deepak Kumar Shrivastava Represents India in First IFLA GOVLIB Welcome Meeting

Global Update – IFLA GOVLIB Section

Dr. Deepak Kumar Shrivastava, Divisional Librarian & Head, Government Divisional Public Library, Kota (India), and Nodal Officer for Public Libraries – Kota Region, had the privilege to participate in the First IFLA Government Libraries Section (GOVLIB) Welcome Meeting held on Friday, 8 August at 1100 UTC.

The meeting served as a thought-provoking and insightful platform to understand the structural framework, strategic direction, and global activities of IFLA. It emphasized the pivotal role government libraries play in promoting transparency, accountability, and access to reliable information in informed societies.

During the session, Dr. Shrivastava introduced his Signature Project—a transformative public library initiative focused on inclusivity, accessibility, and digital empowerment, particularly for the visually impaired, nomadic communities, and underserved populations. He also highlighted the upcoming satellite meetings and collaborative activities planned under the GOVLIB banner that aim to strengthen professional exchange and policy alignment across member countries.

Expressing his gratitude, Dr. Shrivastava said:
“It is an honour to interact with global leaders in the library world. The IFLA GOVLIB platform is a powerful space for exchanging ideas and shaping the future of government libraries. I’m excited to contribute to this journey with commitment and innovation.”

His active participation reflects India’s growing leadership in advancing inclusive public library models globally.
