High level review meeting of Tourism Ministry chaired by Prime Minister

Modi ji gives 'incredible ideas' every time - Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat

New Delhi, May 20. Union Culture and Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat has said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi connects tourism development with improvement in the socio-economic life of the country, hence he gives new 'incredible ideas' every time while encouraging continuous improvement in the policy to make India a reliable and convenient tourist center of the world.

A high level review meeting of the Union Tourism Ministry was held on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In the meeting, detailed feedback was taken regarding the functioning of the ministry and upcoming plans. High officials of the department were present in the meeting along with Union Culture and Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat. Shekhawat said that Prime Minister Modi ji guided in the review meeting on the subject of tourism.

*Prasad and Swadesh Darshan schemes are strengthening the tourism sector*

Various schemes of the Modi government are playing an important role in making India a reliable and convenient tourist center of the world, in which Prasad and Swadesh Darshan schemes are special. Prasad Yojana is a 'Tirth Yatra Rejuvenation and Spiritual Augmentation Campaign', which aims to develop the major pilgrimage sites of the country holistically, thereby promoting religious tourism and strengthening the local economy. So far, 48 projects have been approved under this scheme for Rs 1646.99 crore, out of which 23 projects have been completed. The Swadesh Darshan Yojana aims to develop theme-based tourism circuits. So far, 76 projects have been approved for Rs 5287.90 crore under this scheme, out of which 75 projects have been completed. The 'Meet in India' initiative under the 'Incredible India Campaign' is also playing an important role in this direction.

*Participation of local communities is being ensured*

Through these schemes of the Central Government, development of tourist destinations, employment generation, preservation of cultural heritage and participation of local communities is being ensured, this is increasing the number of not only domestic but also international tourists, due to which the tourism sector of India is touching new heights.
