### Hindustan Zinc Championing Grassroots Women Leadership Through Sakhi Project

Udaipur, In a significant move to deepen community-led development, Hindustan Zinc (NSE: HINDZINC) the world’s largest integrated zinc producer, through its flagship initiative Sakhi, has deployed 35 trained Community Field Coordinators (CFCs) across six districts in Rajasthan and Uttarakhand. These women will act as connectors and catalysts, helping self-help groups function better, supporting rural women in accessing livelihood opportunities, resolving village-level issues, and ensuring that the spirit of community ownership stays alive. Their training covers essential skills in planning, time management, leadership, and mobilization, equipping them to bring consistency and professionalism into local development work.

At the core of this initiative is Hindustan Zinc’s flagship project Sakhi, which has created a strong foundation of nealry 2,100 Self-Help Groups with more than 27,000 women members across Rajasthan and Uttarakhand. Implemented by the Manjari Foundation, Sakhi works across three key areas. Financial inclusion, social awareness, and livelihood development by building women-led community institutions like village organisations and federations. Its social outreach arm, Sakhi Uthori, tackles issues like gender inequality, domestic violence, child marriage, and menstrual health, reaching over 3 lakh people, including more than 20,000 school students.

The CFCs bring with them years of on-ground experience, with journeys deeply rooted in the Sakhi movement. They are part of a powerful wave that continues to inspire rural and tribal women to step into community leadership. For instance, Pooja Chouhan from Sunariya Kheda, who was once a homemaker confined within the four walls of her home. Today, she leads from the front as the President of Sakhi Samriddhi Samiti, Dariba, mentoring other women toward financial independence. Likewise, Mamta Kunwar from Debari rose through the ranks — from being a tailor and Lekha Sakhi to becoming the Federation Manager of Sakhi Prerna Samiti, where she now supports over 10 SHGs and serves as a trusted mentor in her village.

These 35 Community Field Coordinators from the Sakhi community inspired and mentored by leaders like Pooja and Mamta, will now act as anchors for village-level institutions. They wi support daily operations, enable smoother access to entitlements, resolve group-level challenges, and nurture the next generation of women leaders. Their presence ensures that every village has a trained, trusted hand to support the community’s development journey.

This initiative is part of Hindustan Zinc’s holistic community development vision of building inclusive, empowered communities. Through programs focused on education, health, water & sanitation, women empowerment, environment, and livelihoods, the company reaches over 2.3 million people across 2,300+ villages. By equipping women with tools, platforms, and purpose, Hindustan Zinc is not just enabling change, it is empowering communities to lead it themselves.
