Police Refuses to File FIR for Missing Filmmaker Sanoj Mishra, Says Incident Outside Jurisdiction - Dyuti Mishra

Filmmaker Sanoj Mishra, known for his controversial film "The Diary of West Bengal," has been missing for over 72 hours. Today, his wife, Dyuti Mishra, attempted to file a missing person report at Gomti Nagar Police Station in Lucknow, but the police refused to register the FIR. The police explained that the case did not fall within their jurisdiction.

Sanoj Mishra has faced increasing difficulties since the release of his film, "The Diary of West Bengal," which is based on true events from West Bengal. Over the past year and a half, he has received multiple threats and had previously expressed concerns about potential attacks against him. Despite these warnings, no action was taken, leaving him feeling increasingly despondent.

Recently, while traveling across the country for the promotion and release of "The Diary of West Bengal," Sanoj Mishra was summoned by the Kolkata police in connection with the same case. He traveled to Kolkata on August 14th to meet with the police, and since then, both of his mobile phones have been switched off, and there has been no contact or trace of him.

In light of this, his family is in a state of panic, fearing the worst. On August 16th, at 4:15 PM, Dyuti Mishra went to the Gomti Nagar Police Station in Lucknow to file an FIR, providing a detailed account of her husband's disappearance. However, after reviewing her application, the police declined to register the case, stating that it was unclear where exactly Sanoj went missing. Since he was last seen in Kolkata, they argued that they could not file an FIR without further investigation.

Speaking to the media outside the police station, Dyuti Mishra made an emotional appeal for help in locating her husband. She urged everyone to assist in gathering any information about Sanoj's whereabouts, particularly in Kolkata and other places he might have been. As of now, the Lucknow police have not registered the case, and further developments are awaited.
