Cleanliness Drive and Lease Application Approvals in Sriganganagar

Sriganganagar Municipal Council organized a mass cleaning drive on 25 September 2025 under the Swachhata Hi Seva Abhiyan 2025 at the Central Bus Stand, Sriganganagar. The campaign was held as part of the nationwide theme “One Day, One Hour, Together.”

The event witnessed the participation of MLA Jaydeep Bihani, Lok Sabha candidate Priyanka Belan, Commissioner Ravindra Singh Yadav, former councillor Cheshta Sardana, Ashok Munjral, Ashok Methia, municipal officials, staff members, and around 500 citizens. Participants carried out cleaning at the bus stand, including toilets and urinals. Commissioner Ravindra Singh Yadav appealed to citizens to remain conscious of cleanliness and extend cooperation to keep the city clean and hygienic.

215 Lease Applications Approved Under Urban Services Camp

The Commissioner informed that several pending lease applications within the Municipal Council area were processed. Following the State Government’s directive, the “Urban Service Camp – 2025” is being conducted ward-wise from 17 September to 17 October 2025. During this camp, 215 lease applications were scrutinized and approved. After the applicants deposit the required amounts, leases will be executed, and demand notices have already been issued.

Criteria for Lease Allocation in Informal Settlements

The Commissioner further clarified that to obtain a lease in kacchi basti (informal settlements), the applicant’s name must be listed in the settlement survey. Initially, the cut-off date was 01 April 2004, later extended to 31 December 2021. Anyone listed in the survey or dependent family members residing at that address are eligible for lease allotment.

Maximum allotment: 110 sq. yards at concessional rates.

For BPL families:

Up to 50 sq. yards @ ₹15 per sq. yard.

50–110 sq. yards @ ₹30 per sq. yard.

Non-BPL applicants must pay double rates.

Maximum regulation possible: 200 sq. yards, with market rates applicable beyond 110 sq. yards.

Mandatory conditions: at least a 15-foot road access, land must not fall under the restricted category, and lease cannot be sold except by the listed survey-holder or dependent family members.

Applicant must be a permanent resident of Rajasthan. Lease transfer is permitted only after 3 years through registered sale deed, ensuring transparency in ownership.

Lease Issuance Under Section 69-A

Regarding allotments under Section 69-A, it was highlighted that:

An applicant cannot seek a 69-A lease in place of an existing municipal lease or license unless surrendering the earlier rights.

Agricultural lands converted under rules of 1971, 1992, 2007, urban conversion rules of 1981, custodian land leases, market committee allotments, city survey lands, princely state non-agricultural colonies, or registered sale deeds based on converted plots can be regularized under Section 69-A.

If land ownership has changed hands, the final purchaser can obtain the lease upon submitting complete chain of documents, including the original lease/allotment letter.
