National Workshop Organized on Climate Change and Its Solutions

Udaipur: EF Polymer and Biof, in collaboration, organized a national conference on climate-smart agriculture and dairy at the Dubok Resort in Udaipur to address the effects of climate change and find solutions. The event saw participation from various organizations across the country, including the World Bank, International Finance Corporation, Biof, Hindustan Zinc, Fikki, EF Polymer, I-CART, String Bio, Prompt Dairy, Indian Council of Agricultural Research, Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture and Technology, and Rajasthan University.

In the current era of climate change, where there is a sudden increase in temperature leading to shortened seasons, and the earth stands on the brink of danger, in-depth discussions were held.

The workshop was inaugurated by the state's Minister of Tribal Development, Babulal Kharadi. On this occasion, Kharadi noted that 20 years ago, diseases such as B.P. Sugar were not found in tribal areas, but today, due to climate change and the use of chemicals, these diseases are becoming prevalent in every village. Climate change has also opened the path to diseases in villages, which is dangerous.

The workshop was chaired by Biof President Dr. Bharat Kakde. Five technical sessions were organized during the workshop, where a consensus was reached on sharing strategies to mitigate the adverse effects on water, land, forest, climate, and animals.

In the field of agriculture and animal husbandry, deliberations were held on innovative techniques such as biochar and crop amrit to reduce the emission of carbon and methane into the environment. Emphasis was also laid on the process of providing economic benefits to farmers through such innovations.

Nearly 30 heads of organizations and experts participated in the conference, some of whom had also participated in the COP-28 and Climate Conference held in Dubai.
