Udaipur: The District Administration and Child Rights Department have become actively engaged in curbing child labour and child begging. Under the guidance of District Collector Namit Mehta, the Child Helpline set up a stall at the Hariyali Amavasya Fair for the first time to raise awareness among the public and facilitate immediate action.
In a pioneering move, a confidential rescue operation against child labour and begging was conducted during the fair. Assistant Director of the Child Rights Department, K.K. Chandrawanshi, issued an order deputing eight Child Helpline workers specifically for the rescue mission at the event.
For the first time, the Child Welfare Committee’s judicial bench was set up at a designated government counter within the fairground, enabling on-the-spot counseling and enforcement measures. Under the leadership of Child Helpline District Coordinator Navneet Audichya, awareness and enforcement actions were conducted at various stalls where children were found involved in child labour or begging.
The Child Welfare Committee Chairperson Yashoda Paniya, along with members Anjana Joshi and Dr. Sangeeta Rao, were present at the reserved counter to carry out immediate intervention, shelter arrangements, and counseling.
Also present during the initiative were Pankaj Pachar, Superintendent of Government Children's Home, Child Protection Officer Rajkumar Jeenagar, and Child Helpline team members Moin Pinjara, Shankar Lal Bhoi, and Gyaneshwar.
