Udaipur,A review meeting of the Chief Minister’s Tree Plantation Campaign “Hariyalo Rajasthan” was held on Thursday at the Zila Parishad Auditorium under the chairmanship of Additional Chief Secretary of Forest and Environment, Mr. Anand Kumar. The meeting was attended by Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests Mr. Rajesh Gupta, Divisional Commissioner Ms. Pragya Kevalramani, and District Collector Mr. Namit Mehta.
At the outset, Divisional Commissioner Kevalramani and Collector Mehta welcomed the senior officials with floral bouquets. Collector Mehta and Deputy Conservator of Forests Mukesh Saini presented the district’s progress under the campaign. It was reported that Udaipur has set a target of planting 44 lakh saplings, out of which over 27 lakh have already been planted. The district currently ranks first in the state in both plantation numbers and geo-tagging efforts.
Environment Building Turns Goals Achievable
Appreciating the district’s efforts, ACS Anand Kumar emphasized the need to transform this government initiative into a people’s movement. He called for innovative approaches to involve the public and especially children. He stated, “Once the right atmosphere is created, even the biggest goals seem small.” He also stressed the importance of quality monitoring of plantation efforts.
To ensure proper plantation of saplings distributed to the public, Mr. Kumar instructed that designated planting sites be identified by the Municipal Corporation or UDA, and the information should be widely publicized so that citizens without available space can participate in plantation at these common sites.
District-Wide Plantation Drive on July 27
Collector Mr. Mehta shared that under the special plantation campaign being conducted from July 24 to 27, planning has been done down to the micro level, and its implementation has already begun. A district-level event is scheduled on Ratnagiri Hill on July 27, on the occasion of Hariyali Teej. Each Gram Panchayat will plant 500 saplings, and 2,000 saplings will be planted at each block level. Committees have been formed at the village, subdivision, and district levels to ensure effective implementation and monitoring.
UDA Commissioner Rahul Jain informed that a large-scale plantation program is scheduled for July 26 at Debari. Representatives from departments such as Municipal Corporation, UDA, Panchayati Raj, and Rural Development also presented their progress during the meeting.
Divisional Commissioner Kevalramani reiterated the administration's commitment to making the campaign a resounding success and turning Udaipur green.
