Under the Leadership of Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, A New Path for Girls’ Education

Devanarayan Scooty Distribution and Incentive Scheme Empowering Daughters to Shape Their Future

Providing equal opportunities for higher education to every girl is a top priority for the State Government

Under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, the Rajasthan Government is consistently working to promote girls’ education and empowerment. The government’s top priority is to ensure that every girl in the state receives access to higher education and becomes self-reliant, thereby enabling Rajasthan to achieve new milestones in the field of women’s education.

In this direction, the Devanarayan Scooty Distribution and Incentive Scheme, launched by the Department of College Education in 2011–12, continues to inspire and motivate girls across the state. Under this scheme, girls belonging to the Special Backward Class (SBC) category who have scored 50% or more marks in the Class 12 examination conducted by the Rajasthan Board or CBSE, and are regular students in the first year of graduation in a government college or state-funded university in Rajasthan, are awarded a scooty based on merit.

Annual Distribution Target Increased to 4,240 Scooties from 2025

With the Chief Minister’s initiative, apart from the fixed annual target, additional eligible students scoring the same cut-off marks are also provided scooties free of cost. To avail the benefits, the annual family income of the student’s parents/guardians/spouse must be below ₹2.50 lakh. Earlier, the annual target was 1,500 scooties, which has now been increased to 4,240 scooties per year starting from 2025–26.

For students who do not receive a scooty, the scheme offers annual incentive amounts — ₹10,000 each for students securing 50% or more marks in first, second, and third year of graduation, and ₹20,000 per year for first and second year of post-graduation. Eligibility is limited to SBC category girls studying in government or state-funded institutions, with a family income not exceeding ₹2.50 lakh annually.

Over ₹84 Crore Benefiting 35,000+ Girls

So far, under the Devanarayan Scooty Distribution Scheme, a total expenditure of ₹74.35 crore has been made, benefiting 16,021 students. In addition, ₹9.76 crore has been disbursed as incentive amounts to 19,100 students. For the financial year 2025–26, a budget provision of ₹56.10 crore has been approved, out of which ₹32.92 crore has already been utilized by September 2025.

Through this initiative, the Rajasthan Government is paving the way for academic progress, mobility, and empowerment of daughters, ensuring that every girl has the means and motivation to chase her dreams and contribute meaningfully to society.
