District Administration Appeals Public for Precautions against Heatwave

*Udaipur, Due to the rising temperatures in the district, the district administration has appealed to the public to take special precautions. With the intense heat and possibility of heatstroke prevailing these days, it is essential for the public, especially those at high risk, to take extra care. Additionally, the district administration has issued instructions for all health centers in the district to observe special caution during the hot weather.

Extra District Collector, Deependrasingh Rathore, stated that comprehensive guidelines have been received from the Disaster Management, Assistance, and Civil Protection Department (Rajasthan, Jaipur). In adherence to these guidelines, arrangements are being made in the district to provide both temporary and permanent shelters for those vulnerable to heatstroke, homeless individuals, and those sleeping in open spaces. Furthermore, instructions have been given to arrange transportation for relocating individuals from open areas to shelters, providing necessary facilities for families/individuals resting in shelters, and ensuring immediate medical treatment for those affected by heatstroke.

Moreover, the Health Department has been instructed to ensure adequate preparations based on alerts and forecasts issued by the Meteorological Department regarding heatwaves. Instructions include setting up rapid response teams and control rooms, arranging for advanced treatment provisions for patients in all hospitals, ensuring availability of essential medicines in emergency kits, and conducting awareness campaigns among the public.

It is imperative for the public to be cautious during heatwaves. Symptoms such as heavy head and severe headache due to insufficient salt and water in the body are common during heatwaves. Other symptoms include increased thirst, heaviness in the body with fatigue, nausea, dizziness, increased body temperature, cessation of sweating, reddening of the mouth, dry skin, excessive thirst, and loss of consciousness. Prompt medical attention should be provided to individuals showing such symptoms.

The district administration has urged the public to take extreme precautions against the severe heat. It is advised to avoid going out in the sun as much as possible and to cover the body completely when outdoors. Special care should be taken for high-risk individuals such as malnourished children, elderly people, pregnant women, and patients with diabetes, hypertension, etc. It is recommended to stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water, lemon water, coconut water, juices, etc. during the heatwave. High-risk individuals should be closely monitored, and immediate medical attention should be sought if necessary.

The administration has also directed to ensure proper management of shade and water at NREGA or other labor sites so that workers can rest in shaded areas from time to time.

Remember, precaution is better than cure. Stay safe and stay hydrated during the scorching heat.
