Dr. Sunil Kumar Vuppala Appointed Vice President – AI Labs at Aurigo

Bangalore – Aurigo Software, a leading provider of capital planning and construction management software in India, has announced the appointment of Dr. Sunil Kumar Vuppala as Vice President – AI Labs. Based in Bengaluru, Dr. Vuppala will lead Aurigo’s global AI strategy, as well as its research and development initiatives.

Over Two Decades of Experience

Dr. Vuppala brings over 20 years of experience in artificial intelligence, machine learning, deep learning, analytics, Internet of Things (IoT), and automation. He has developed four AI-first platforms and successfully delivered over 100 AI use cases for more than 30 global companies. He holds 40+ patents, including six granted in the US, and has authored 35+ technical research papers. He has also delivered lectures at 100+ academic and industry forums.

Leading Aurigo AI Labs and Lumina

In his new role, Dr. Vuppala will lead the growth and expansion of Aurigo AI Labs and drive the development of the company’s flagship AI solution, Aurigo Lumina. His responsibilities include integrating trustworthy, secure, and scalable AI into Aurigo’s core platform, Masterworks, and promoting the adoption of AI in capital planning and construction management for infrastructure and facilities worldwide.

Previous Roles and Academic Background

Before joining Aurigo, Dr. Vuppala served as Director – Data Science at Ericsson’s Global AI Accelerator (GAIA), where he led cross-functional teams to build production-grade AI models across telecom, security, and visual intelligence domains. He previously held senior roles at Philips Research, Infosys R&D, and Oracle, contributing to enterprise applications in healthcare, telecom, energy, and education.

Dr. Vuppala holds advanced degrees from IIT Roorkee (M.Tech), IIIT Bangalore (Ph.D.), IIM Ahmedabad (SMP), and NLSIU Bangalore (MBL). He is a passionate educator and industry volunteer, teaching at institutions like IIIT-Bangalore and Great Learning, and currently serves as Chair of the IEEE Computer Society, Bangalore Chapter.
